"Who are you and what do you do?"

Beavers, the youngest members of the Scouting family, includes both boys and girls aged 5 to 7.

Fun and friendship are the cornerstone of the Beaver program. Through an adventurous program of outdoor activities, creative play, music, and cooperative games, Beavers enjoy time with their friends (and meet new ones), learn how to get along in a group and develop the confidence to be themselves.

Nature walks, short hikes, tree planting and family sleepovers give Beavers a taste of outdoor fun. These activities develop a Beaver's appreciation and sense of caring for the environment.

Individual competition and structured achievement are not part of the program.

For Beavers, the Scouting principles and mission are rather deep and difficult to grasp. They appear in a simple, more age-appropriate form in the Beaver Law, Promise and Motto.

  • Beaver Law: A Beaver has fun, works hard and helps his family and friends.
  • Beaver Promise: I promise to love God and help take care of the world.
  • Beaver Motto: Sharing, Sharing, Sharing.

A typical meeting consists of a combination of elements (although not every element is included at every meeting):

  • Gathering activity
  • Opening Ceremony
  • Story/Song
  • Craft
  • Theme activity
  • Game
  • Lodge meeting
  • Time for reflection
  • Closing Ceremony
  • Leader Discussion Time
